Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is the key to get admission in 2 years full-time Postgraduate Management Program courses in IITs. currently, 6 IIT institutes offer this Management Program. These are IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras & IIT Roorkee. Candidates have to apply separately for the desired institutes as JMET is the only qualifying exam.
For the candidates to prepare for JMET, he/she must have a keen knowledge of the JMET Exam pattern & JMET eligibility criteria. JMET exam has 4 sections having equal weight age & no. of questions. So each section has to be given equal importance.
- Verbal Communication: This section tests the candidate’s English language abilities. You give more stress on Grammar & vocabulary. Also, analyze the business article & non-fiction prose regularly. Also try to improve the communicative English grammar as questions based on this will be there.
- Logical Reasoning: In this section questions based on analytical reasoning, argument analysis & analysis of questions will be there. This needs a good presence of mind at that time. So try to find the logical reason for every circumstance.
- Quantitative Ability: In these questions are based on basic mathematics. So topics like HCF, LCM, percentage, linear & quadratic equations, logarithms, trigonometry, probability, differential calculus, etc has to be revised. Just go through each topic & you can attempt every question easily as the topics are already done at your higher secondary school.
- Data Interpretation: In this, data understanding is checked mainly. The data will be in the form of graphs, tables, histogram, pie charts, etc & you will have to interpret them. This needs only a general understanding & its easy to prepare for it.
Also, go through the previous years question papers. It will help you to know the type of questions asked. Along with it, try to solve the papers as this will increase your speed & you will come to know whether you need to increase speed or not.
