Software Engineer the name only suggests that you should be an engineering student or graduate student to become a software engineer.

To become a software engineer:

You must complete your graduation from a recognized university.
You cannot become a software engineer just after your 12th standard.
You have to go for B.Tech, it will be better for you to become a software engineer.

Before completing graduation, learn some important computer languages like C, C++, Java, or Dot net to become a software engineer.

After completing your graduation, you can go for MCA. It will help you to become a good programmer.

So, by following these steps you can move into the field of software engineering.

The short summary is, first of all, you have to pass 12 with science subject physics, chemistry, and mathematics. then appear in engineering entrance examinations like IIT JEE, AIEEE, or other state-based engineering entrance examinations. then take admission in engineering with computer science or IT branch. after completion of your B.Tech, you may go towards a software job then you will become a software engineer. also, there is one other procedure. after 12 go for BCA. take admission in a reputed institution in BCA. after BCA complete MCA. then go for a software job and you will become a software engineer.
